Ice Queen

I must have been waiting and longing for this photo series for two years. I spent a lot of time looking for red, green and white cloaks, searching online markets, until last year I found this fluffy, long, heavy-flowing, beautifully edged, hooded and, as it turned out, warm miracle. The session also needed persistent cold for the ice to be thick enough. What else did I need? A beautiful model, and that who could be other than Enéh? And the little things: beautiful shoes, also bought online and well-tested; gloves which had been waiting for years for this occasion; all kinds of white clothes and underwear. There was even a beautiful silver brooch hidden in the giant bag, which I ended up forgetting to pin in Enéh's hair. And perhaps most importantly: the determination to get started and do what I had in mind. All I knew was: Lake Balaton. At Balatonberény we turned off the main road, down to the coast, all the way along the beach. Finally I saw the fading background, and I knew: this is what I needed! One of the places of my childhood summer experiences in a previously unknown guise. I melted from the first pictures, and then new and new ideas came, from Enéh and Magor, my beloved children. The last photo was taken by Enéh.

It all
started when I won a canvas painting at Fotoplus and bought it at their store
in Pécs. If so, after nearly 30 years, as fate brought me back to Pécs, I
thought I would show the kids my university town. Well, we didn't quite
make it to the university building, but we saw some other interesting It all
started when I won a canvas painting at Fotoplus and picked it up at their
store in Pécs. If things, and maybe I'll post pictures of them here one
day. One of the main sensations was Vince Street, with a stream or canal
running through in the middle, and you can wade in it until your trainers are
full. Anyone who has seen the Pécs garbage can competition, it was on this
very street. By the time we got down from the top of Misina to the
pedestrian street, everyone was already wandering around, hungry and thinking
only of the promised ice cream and some grocery store, and then I saw this. My
hunger and fatigue went away, and I sniffed my way further and further into the
store. I asked if I could take pictures, and I got permission. There
were two of them working in the tiny room, and the older gentleman started
asking if these were going to be edited, black-and-white photos. I don't
know how he got that idea... I wanted to promise to send the photos online, but
all I got was a street and house number.

I've been asked questions about my upcoming exhibition, such as why I take photos, why I like taking photos, what my future plans are, and so on. I've completed the task but since then the question 'Really why?' is lurking around me. Although I have planned photo shoots, spontaneous moments are the most exciting starting points. As was with these photos. We were on vacation in Montenegro two years ago, which - for us - means tents and other strange solutions. For example, we slept on the beach for two nights, about three meters from the crashing sea. The wind was strong, and we weighed down the foams and pillows with stones after my pillow flew about twenty meters thanks to a midnight rollover. We woke up tired in the morning, but the completely different colors and lights of the early hours and the lack of beachgoers remain special memories that we still cherish. We started packing up our sleeping accommodations, which turned out to be an impossible mission. We easily threw the flying pillows into the car, but the polyfoams that had become flying carpets did not give in and came to life on their own. In the big fight, the fun factory started, the source of childish creativity burst, and we laughed ourselves to death. And what does a mother with a photography obsession do in this different state? She runs for the little smart device and tries to capture and hold it all. And bring it home. And look at it again and relive the feelings there. Yesterday I shared these pictures in an international photography group, and several of the commenters were happy because they reminded them of their childhood and youth spent on the beach. This is an additional consequence: a photoshoot that is actually for personal gain can touch the souls of a lot of people.
So why do I love taking photos? I still can't define it - only through stories like this.

Summer holidays have started. A time for possibilities. This aftrenoon I called my daughter, Enéh for some sewing. She comforted herself in the all-use armachair into the wonder of the needle and thread that change worlds. This armchair knows something. I breastfed all my three children, read hundreds of tales in it; it is the best place to eat, to talk to guests, sometimes to sleep. And the lights! The lights! The lights fall on faces in a way that you must run for your camera and freeze the moments. Sleeping, nibbling, sewing people.
